He appeared in the census in 1910 in Sheldon Township, Monroe County, WI.²² He appeared in the census in 1920 in Wilton Township, Monroe County, WI.²⁶ Elmer appeared in the census in 1930 in Wilton Township, Monroe County, WI.²⁸ He was a "hired man" for Elba Martin. Between 1934 and 1943 he was a farmer in Monroe County, WI.⁵¹ in the Wilton and Tunnel City areas. Between 1943 and 1963 he was a restaurant owner and operator in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.⁵¹ of the Parkway Cafe. Elmer died on 27 January 1989 at the age of 82 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.⁵¹
