91. Janice H. VIETH was born on 13 January 1945 in Sparta, Sparta Township, Monroe County, WI.¹⁰ She died on 28 February 2009 at the age of 64 in La Crosse, La Crosse County, WI.¹⁰

Obituary Notes: "Janice Schleusener, age 64, of Tomah, Wisconsin, passed away on Saturday, February 28, 2009, at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital of La Crosse, WI. She was born on January 13, 1945, to Erwin and Margaret (Pfuhl) Vieth in Sparta, WI. She was raised on a dairy farm in Spring Valley near Norwalk. Janice was a 1963 graduate of Brookwood High School and a 1964 graduate of the Career Academy in Milwaukee, WI.

Janice worked as a dental assistant in oral surgery at St. Francis in La Crosse and later for Dr. Cunningham and Dr. Chitwood in Tomah. She was united in marriage to Leon Schleusener on September 4, 1965.

Janice was a member of and held offices in the Monroe County Homemakers, Mary Mission Circle, General Mission Circle, and was Membership Chair of the Tomah Concert Association. She was the volunteer coordinator of the soup label program for St. Paul’s Lutheran School since 1972. Janice took great pride in her quilting, stamp collecting and counted cross-stitch. Together with her husband Leon, she enjoyed woodworking, gardening, bee-keeping and producing and packaging honey. She enjoyed cooking down maple syrup with her son, Loren. Cooking was one of her favorite pastimes, and she was proud to have her chicken salad recipe published in Country Woman Magazine in 2007. She also participated in a dairy recipe bake off, televised on Channel 8 (WKBT). She loved spending time with her family, especially her granddaughter Tayler.

She is survived by her husband, Leon of Tomah, WI; her children, Loren Schleusener (Tammy Svoboda) of Tomah, WI and Michelle (Tom) Rogers of Mt. Prospect, IL; her granddaughter, Tayler Schleusener; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2009, 11 a.m. at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tomah. Pastor Donald Buch will officiate. A private family burial will take place at the Wanderers Rest Cemetery, Norwalk at a later date.Family and friends are invited for visitation on Monday, March 2, 2009, from 4 until 7p.m. at the Torkelson Funeral Home of Tomah. Family and friends are also invited for visitation on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church.

The family has requested that memorials be given in Janice’s memory to the St. Paul Church African Medical Mission or ther organ fund."

Janice H. VIETH and Leon F. SCHLEUSENER were married on 4 September 1965.^32,53 Leon F. SCHLEUSENER, son of Martin SCHLEUSENER and Leona Paulla DIETRICH, was born on 7 April 1941.⁵³
