He died on 5 January 1964 at the age of 48 in Milwaukee, Milwaukee Township, Milwaukee County, WI.44,57 Obituary Notes: "Mr. Erwin Vroman was born October 18, 1915. He passed away Jan. 5 (1964) at his home in Milwaukee.

On October 5, 1938, he was married to Willeene Vandervort. One daughter, Annette, was born of this union.

Preceding him in his death were his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Vroman, and two infant sons. He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Annette (Mrs. Thomas Pehowski); three grandchildren; four sisters, Mabel, Eva, Louise, and Vera; and two brothers, Frank and Chester.

Funeral services were held Friday at 1:30 P.M. at White's Funeral Home. Rev. Thomas Jarrell officiated. Burial was in the Oak Grove Cemetery." Erv was buried on 10 January 1964 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.44,118 in the Oak Grove Cemetery.

Erwin Keith "Erv" VROMAN (^) and Willeene Carrie VANDERVORT (+) (~) were married on 5 October 1938 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.44,65,119,120 (They were third cousins. Their common ancestor was James Robert Vandervoort, their great-great-grandfather. Erwin was a descendant of James Robert and his second wife, Rebecca McIntyre, through their son, Jacob. Willeene was a descendant of James Robert and his third wife, Mary Baker, through their son, Isaac.)

Newspaper article: "Miss Willeene Vandervort and Erwin Vroman were married October 5. The marriage was performed by the Rev. Bernard Herrick of the Methodist church at the parsonage. A reception was held at the home of the bride and a bounteous dinner was served at noon to thirty-two guests of friends and relatives.

Those present were the immediate families of the two parties, and the out-of-town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Dale Vandervort of Herbster, WI., Mr. Art Gull of Milwaukee, Miss Jane Heinze of West Salem, Misses Dorace and Jeanette Marachowsky of Mauston, Miss Lucille Koopman of Portage, and Miss Mildred Koopman of New Lisbon. The latter five girls acted as table waitresses, and Mrs. Elizabeth Kern of Tomah and Mrs. Walter Silvernagle of Mauston superintended the work in the kitchen.

In the evening, a shower and dance was given in honor of the newlyweds, who received many beautiful and useful gifts. We wish to extend our heart-felt congratulations and best wishes for a long and happy life together." Willeene Carrie VANDERVORT (+) (~), daughter of Rollie H. VANDERVORT and Martha Cordelia GRIGGS, was born on 18 January 1918 in La Grange Township, Monroe County, WI.44,91 She is believed to have been born in her parents' second farm, once owned by Lucius S. Griggs, at the intersections of highways 12 and 21, north of Tomah.

Her middle name was the same as the given name of her maternal grandmother, Carrie Permelia Griswold. She was known to the younger generations as "Aunt Bill." She appeared in the census in 1920 in La Grange Township, Monroe County, WI.77 She appeared in the census in 1930 in La Grange Township, Monroe County, WI.86 Willeene appeared in the census in 1940 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.116 She appeared in the census in 1950 in Milwaukee, Milwaukee Township, Milwaukee County, WI.117 Her occupation was "Waitress, Lunch Counter at Department Store." She died on 14 June 1990 at the age of 72 in Milwaukee, Milwaukee Township, Milwaukee County, WI.44 Obituary Notes: " Willeene C. Vandervort, Vroman, Egeland, died Thursday, June 14, 1990 at the age of 72. She was born on January 18, 1918 in Tomah to Rollie and Mattie (Griggs) Vandervort.

She was a sparky lady who enjoyed life and having a good time. This she did with her family, golfing, bowling, and traveling.

She is survived by her husband, Charles; a daughter, Annette (Thomas) Pehowski; a brother Fred (Thelma) Vandervort; a sister, Freda Clay; four grandchildren, Carrie (Alan) Kanngieser, Scott (Christine) Pehowski, Cheryl (Dennis) Legler, and Colleen (Andrew) Wesolowski; seven great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by two sons, her parents, and her first husband." Willeene was buried on 16 June 1990 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.105 in the Oak Grove Cemetery (in Section 2A, Block 2, Lot 131).

Obituary Notes: "Born to Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Vroman of 1036 Brown Deer Road, Milwaukee, 9, Wis., on November 4, a son, Keith William, who died at birth (of a collapsed lung during a premature birth) at a Milwaukee hospital. The baby was brought to Tomah on November 5 for burial at the Oak Grove cemetery, with Rev. Kilde officiating at the burial.

The baby is survived by his father and mother and sister, Annette, grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Rollie Vandervort of Tomah, and Mr. Will Vroman of Kirby, besides a host of relatives.

Those attending the burial were Mr. Ervin Vroman and Art Borchardt of Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Vandervort, Mrs. Roland Clay, Mr. and Mrs. Perry Gorbet, and Mr. and Mrs. Milo Purdy." He was buried on 5 November 1947 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.44,118 in the Oak Grove Cemetery.

Obituary Notes: "The infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Erwin Vroman of 2632 N. Pierce Street, Milwaukee, was born on September 16 and passed away on September 17 at the hospital. He leaves to mourn his parents, one sister, Annette, and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Rollie Vandervort. Preceding him in death were an infant brother on November 4, 1947, and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Will Vroman.

The body was brought to Tomah for burial. Rev. Holtrop gave a prayer at the Fred Vandervort home and at the grave.
