156. Roy A. CONANT22 was born on 14 March 1884. He died on 12 June 1949 at the age of 65 in Tomahawk, Lincoln County, WI.175 He was buried on 14 June 1949 in Tomahawk, Lincoln County, WI.175 Roy a. Conant; his school education was completed in the high school at Tomahawk where he graduated in 1903.
He resided in that city from 1895 to1904 and then went to Bradley and began work as clerk an the general store of Smith and Taylor remaining there until 1906. Then with George Smith who had become his father-in-law he entered into the manufacture of lath and shingles. In 1909 he was appointed rural mail carrier at the Bradley post office, the first to be appointed.
in 1910 he and George Smith joined in the development of 120 acres of cut over land adjoining Bradley village and began farming. They erected buildings and had 70 acres under plow. In 1920 with his brother Lloyd Conant purchased the Johnson brothers. Store and stock at Bradley. The post office was in the store and Lloyd was post master and Roy the asst. post master. From 1913 to 1916 Roy a. Conant was chairman of the Bradley town board and had a seat on the county board of supervisors. He served as town clerk and seven years as clerk of the school district. Politically he was a republican with independent tendencies on election day. He was married on nov.7 1905 to Bessie i .smith
They were the parents of four children, George S. Conant 10/30 1906, Dorothy j. 10/16/1908, Herbert G. 10/24/1913 and Evelyn 6/19/1919.

Roy A. CONANT and Bessie Irene SMITH were married in 1905.79 Bessie Irene SMITH22, daughter of George W. SMITH and Jennie A. MCGUINESS, was born in 1883.79 She died in 1961 at the age of 78 in Tomahawk, Lincoln County, WI.79
