Johann August "John" ZIRK was born on 13 September 1828 in Gruneberg, Brandenburg Province, Preussen (Prussia).1 He emigrated in 1885 from Preussen (Prussia).1 He was one of 13 charter members of St. Luke;s Lutheran Church in 1899 in Glendale Township, Monroe County, WI.2 The church is located west of Elroy and was built in 1899 on one acre of land donated by Gustav and Anna Schauer. There is a cemetery next to the church. Services were conducted in German until they were changed to English in 1911. The last services were conducted there in 1986. . John died on 5 June 1923 at the age of 94 in Glendale Township, Monroe County, WI.1 He was buried in 1924 in Glendale Township, Monroe County, WI.1,3 in the St. Luke's Lutheran Church cemetery. (Dates on the cemetery records are 1829-1921.) Johann August "John" ZIRK and Wilhelmine Albertina "Minnie" WOLFHEIL were married about 1857.1 Wilhelmine Albertina "Minnie" WOLFHEIL, daughter of Chris WOLFHEIL and Annie UNKNOWN (WOLFHEIL), was born on 28 March 1832 in Preussen (Prussia).1,4 She emigrated in 1885 from Preussen (Prussia).1 She died on 31 July 1904 at the age of 72 in Glendale Township, Monroe County, WI.1,4,5 Minnie was buried in 1904 in Glendale Township, Monroe County, WI.1,3 in the St. Luke's Lutheran Church cemetery.
