He appeared in the census in 1855 in Geddes Township, Onondaga County, NY.¹¹² His occupation was listed as "engineer." Jacob appeared in the census in 1860 in Geddes Township, Onondaga County, NY.¹¹³ His occupation was "Salt Boiler." He served in the military about 1864.¹¹⁴ He was pictured with the Civil War Veterans of Tomah, WI, in 1890.
