3. Auguste KUHL was born on 11 October 1833 in Pumland (??), Preussen (Prussia).6,22,25,26 (The church marriage records list her birth year as 1832.)

(The Monroe County marriage records contain an entry for the marriage of "Auguste Kuehl" to "Heinrich Kuehl on Nov 7, 1882." That may be her.) She emigrated in 1858 from Daber, Kreis Naugard, Pommern (Pomerania) Province, Preussen (Prussia).9 She appeared in the census in 1860 in Adrian Township, Monroe County, WI.4 Auguste appeared in the census in July 1870 in Adrian Township, Monroe County, WI.14 She died on 23 November 1893 at the age of 60 in Wisconsin.22,26,27 She was buried in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.22,26 in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Her gravestone contains the inscription, "At Rest."

Auguste KUHL and Friedrich BACKHAUS Jr. were married on 29 May 1870 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.6,17 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. Friedrich BACKHAUS Jr., son of Friedrich BACKHAUS and Friedricke KUHL, was born on 26 April 1845 in Karow, Kries Regenwalde, Pommern (Pomerania) Province, Preussen (Prussia).6 (This is the flag of Pomerania.) He appeared in the census in July 1870 in Adrian Township, Monroe County, WI.14 He and his wife were living in the household of her father, Gottlieb Kuehl.
