Descendants of Johann Gottlieb Kuhl

This report contains the descendants of Johann Gottlieb Kuhl, who settled in the Ridgeville Township area of Monroe County, after he and his family emigrated to America from Prussia in 1858.

Most of Gottlieb's children "Americanized" their surname to "Kuehl," but one son and his descendants retained the original spelling.

The family became connected to the Pergande family when Gottlieb's son, Wilhelm, married Augustine "Justine" Pergande, a daughter of Friedrich August Pergande, in 1866.
