7. Karl F. "Charles" KUHL Sr. was born on 3 December 1845 in Pumland (??), Preussen (Prussia).2,4,26,36 (The 1880 Census shows their family name as "Kuhl," as does his marriage registration record. His children from his first marriage spelled their name as Kuehl, and it is spelled that way on his gravestone. His second wife and their children spelled their names as "Kuhl" in the 1900 Census.) He emigrated in 1858 from Daber, Kreis Naugard, Pommern (Pomerania) Province, Preussen (Prussia).3,9 He appeared in the census in 1860 in Adrian Township, Monroe County, WI.4 Charles appeared in the census in 1870 in Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.14 His occupation was "Farmer." He appeared in the census in 1880 in Adrian Township, Monroe County, WI.2 His occupation was "Farmer." He died on 28 March 1896 at the age of 50 in Wisconsin.26,53 Charles was buried in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.26 in the Oak Grove Cemetery. His fifth son, Herman, passed away at age three.
