7. Karl F. "Charles" KUHL Sr. was born on 3 December 1845 in Pumland (??), Preussen (Prussia).^2,4,26,36 (The 1880 Census shows their family name as "Kuhl," as does his marriage registration record. His children from his first marriage spelled their name as Kuehl, and it is spelled that way on his gravestone. His second wife and their children spelled their names as "Kuhl" in the 1900 Census.) He emigrated in 1858 from Daber, Kreis Naugard, Pommern (Pomerania) Province, Preussen (Prussia).^3,9 He appeared in the census in 1860 in Adrian Township, Monroe County, WI.⁴ Charles appeared in the census in 1870 in Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.¹⁴ His occupation was "Farmer." He appeared in the census in 1880 in Adrian Township, Monroe County, WI.² His occupation was "Farmer." He died on 28 March 1896 at the age of 50 in Wisconsin.^26,53 Charles was buried in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.²⁶ in the Oak Grove Cemetery. This is a picture of his four if his five sons. Top left is believed to be Heinrich, top right is Ludwig, bottom left is believed to be Carl, and bottom right is August. His fifth son, Herman, passed away at age three.

Here surname is listed as "Young" in the church baptism record of her son Carl in 1872 and as "Youngs" in her burial record in 1882. It is listed as "Jungs" in the baptism record for her daughter Anna in 1879. It is believed to have been "Jungs.") Her sponsors were Dorothea Kuhl and Justine Pergande. She appeared in the census in 1870 in Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.¹⁴ (She was listed as "Frederick," a male, with a birth date of Sept 1879.) He appeared in the census in 1910 in Adrian Township, Monroe County, WI.²⁹ He was Single, living with his brother Charles, and his occupation was "Farm Laborer, Home Farm." Fred appeared in the census in 1930 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.⁵⁶ He was a "Lodger" in the household on 906 Superior Avenue and his occupation was "Teamster, Milk Factory." He was listed as Married, but his wife was not living with him.

In the Monroe County Heritage Book, their marriage date is listed as Sep 20 1883. She was also listed as "Caroline" in the 1910 Census.) Caroline Sophia RUSSELL was born in April 1857 in Germany.^29,36 She emigrated in 1880 from Germany.^29,36 The 1900 Census listed her emigration year as 1876 and indicated that she had been in America for 24 years; the 1910 listed it as 1880. She appeared in the census in 1900 in Adrian Township, Monroe County, WI.³⁶ She was a Widow and her occupation was "Farmer." Living with her were her three daughters, Tillie, "Fredda" and Martha.
