Johann Joachim "David" MARTEN was born on 13 June 1799 in Spornitz, Neustadt, Kreis Ludwigslust-Parchim, Mecklenburg-Schwerin Province, Preussen (Prussia).2 He emigrated on 29 September 1856 from Hamburg, Schleswig-Holstein Province, Preussen (Prussia).1 He was Lutheran about 1859 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.4 He was one of the first seventeen charter members who formed St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church. David appeared in the census in June 1860 in Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.5 He and his wife were living with their son Christian. He died in 1860 at the age of 61 in Wisconsin.1,6,7 He and his wife were not listed in the 1870 Census. Also, he was not listed with his wife in their son Christ's family in the 1880 Census. He may have died before 1870. Johann Joachim "David" MARTEN and Anna Christina "Friederike" RUMPEL were married on 30 January 1828 in Spornitz, Neustadt, Kreis Ludwigslust-Parchim, Mecklenburg-Schwerin Province, Preussen (Prussia).1,2 Anna Christina "Friederike" RUMPEL was born on 24 June 1799 in Mecklenburg-Schwerin Province, Preussen (Prussia).2,6,8 She emigrated in 1856 from Spornitz, Neustadt, Kreis Ludwigslust-Parchim, Mecklenburg-Schwerin Province, Preussen (Prussia).2 She appeared in the census in 1860 in Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.5,7 She was listed as "Mary." (She cannot be located in the 1870 Census in Monroe County.) Friederike appeared in the census in 1880 in Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.6 She is living in the household of her son Christ and his family. She died on 28 October 1887 at the age of 88 in Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.2,8 She was buried on 31 October 1887 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.8 in the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery.
