Lemuel "Samuel" RICHARDSON Jr. (*), son of Lemuel RICHARDSON and Anna RUST, was born on 13 December 1752 in Coventry Township, Tolland County, Connecticut Colony, British Colonial America.19,38 (This is a map of Coventry Township.) He appeared in the census in 1790 in Tolland Township, Tolland County, CT.39,43 His household consisted of 3 males, 16 and older; 3 males, under 16; and 4 females.

(His household could not be located in the 1800 Census in either Connecticut or Vermont. A Samuel Richardson household was located in Corinth, Orange County, VT, with 5 sons and 4 daughters, but the ages did not fit Samuel's family.) About 1800 he was a storeowner, saddler and harness maker in Waitsfield Township, Chittenden County, VT.44 "At first, town life (in Waitsfield) centered around the (General Benjamin) Wait family lots. General Wait's home was used for town meetings until 1798. The first church services were held in his barn. What little commerce was available was here as well. Slightly northeast, at the foot of nearby ledges, Samuel Chandler of Worcester, Massachusetts, and Henly Mower of Woodstock, Vermont, had the first store in town." Samuel appeared in the census in 1810 in Tolland Township, Tolland County, CT.40 He died on 16 September 1826 at the age of 73 in Waitsfield Township, Washington County, VT.19,38,42,45,46 He must have moved back to Vermont after the death of his wife in 1811, but he could not be located in either Connecticut or Vermont in the 1820 Census. He may have been living with one of his children. No male of his age was listed in the households of his sons Roderick, Frederick or Ira.

The 1820 Census for Northfield, Washington County, VT, does contain a Samuel Richardson, age "45 and up" who was living with a woman, age "45 and up," but it is not known if that was him.
He has Ancestral File Number 18WN-0CD.38
