1. Ludwig "Louis" STOLZ was born about 1823 in Posen Province, Preussen (Prussia).1,2,3,4 (His surname was spelled "Stolz" in the church Family Register for his wife and sons Otto and Eduard, and in the church death record for his son Gustav. It was spelled "Stoltz" in the 1880 Census.) He appeared in the census in 1870 in Adrian Township, Monroe County, WI.1 His occupation was "Farmer." He appeared in the census in 1880 in Adrian Township, Monroe County, WI.4 His occupation was "Farmer." (His was the only Stoltz family in Monroe County in the census.) Louis died before 1889 at the age of 66.5,6 He was not listed with his wife and children in the church Communion Records in the early-1890's. (His grave cannot be located in a database of Monroe County cemeteries.)

Ludwig "Louis" STOLZ and Auguste "Justine" SCHEDLER were married about 1856 in Posen Province, Preussen (Prussia).2,7,8 (According to the 1900 and 1910 Census records, she had 10 children, of whom 7 were living at the time.) Auguste "Justine" SCHEDLER, daughter of Johann Wilhelm SCHEDLER and Anna Louise WEGNER, was born in January 1836 in Posen Province, Preussen (Prussia).1,7,8 (She was listed as age 74 in the 1910 Census.) She emigrated in 1862 from Posen Province, Preussen (Prussia).7,8,9,10,11 The 1900 Census listed her emigration as 1862 and indicated that she had been in America for 38 years. The 1910 Census listed her emigration year as 1865, and the 1920 listed it as 1856; the latter two are believed to have been errors, due to the birth dates of her children.

A detailed search of the International Ship Transcribers Guild (ISTG) website of ship manifests for the years 1861, 1862 and 1863 failed to locate her family. They were also not located on the Ancestry.com immigrant lists.

She was Lutheran on 24 March 1867 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.5,12 when she became a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church; in later years, her sons Otto and Eduard were listed with her in the Family Register. She and her family were also listed in the church Communion Records in the early-1890's. Justine appeared in the census in 1870 in Adrian Township, Monroe County, WI.1 She appeared in the census in 1880 in Adrian Township, Monroe County, WI.4 She was listed as "Augusta." She appeared in the census in 1900 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.8 She was living with her son Eduard and his family. Justine appeared in the census in 1910 in Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.7 She was living with her daughter Anna and her family and was listed as "Justina." Her occupation was "Own Income." She appeared in the census in 1920 in Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.9,13 She was living with her daughter Anna and her family. She was listed as "Justine." (She was not listed in the 1930 Census in Monroe County, so she may have died before then.)

He died on 21 June 1868 at the age of 0.2 Gustav was buried on 23 June 1868 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.2 in the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery.
