5. James John Josef "Joseph" SVEC (^) was born on 29 September 1830 in Rukavec, Milevsko, Pisek District, South Bohemian Region, Bohemia (Czech Republic). He emigrated in 1867 from Bohemia (Czech Republic). He appeared in the census in 1870 in Baltimore (Independent City), MD. His household was in the 7th Ward and his occupation was "Laborer." (His surname was listed as "Swetz.") Joseph appeared in the census in 1880 in Baltimore (Independent City), MD. His household was on Abbott Street in the 2nd Precinct, 7th Ward and his occupation was "Laborer." He died on 2 July 1892 at the age of 61 in Baltimore (Independent City), MD. He was buried in Baltimore (Independent City), MD. in the Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery (Section L, Lot 54, Space 1).

James John Josef "Joseph" SVEC (^) and Katerina M. "Katherine" KUBES (^) were married in 1850 in Bohemia (Czech Republic). (According to the 1900 Census, she had 10 children, of whom 7 were living at the time. The census also indicated that they had been married for 42 years, which would have put their marriage year at about 1858; that is believed to have been an error because their first child is believed to have been born in 1852.) Katerina M. "Katherine" KUBES (^), daughter of Josef KUBES and Barbora MARES, was born on 21 September 1832 in Bilina, Pisek District, South Bohemian Region, Bohemia (Czech Republic). She emigrated in 1867 from Bohemia (Czech Republic). She appeared in the census in 1870 in Baltimore (Independent City), MD. Katherine appeared in the census in 1880 in Baltimore (Independent City), MD. She appeared in the census in 1900 in Baltimore (Independent City), MD. She was a Widow and was living with her daughter Frances and her family. She died on 23 December 1909 at the age of 77 in Baltimore (Independent City), MD. Katherine was buried in Baltimore (Independent City), MD. in the Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery (Section L, Lot 54, Space 2). She has Ancestral File Number LHWK-SS7. (Her full name may have been "Kupcova Rubesova Hosdak.")
