Milevsko is a town in Písek District in the South Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It is situated 25 kilometers northeast of Písek. He was christened on 22 September 1860 in Milevsko, Pisek District, South Bohemian Region, Bohemia (Czech Republic). He emigrated about 1867 from Bohemia (Czech Republic). The 1900 Census listed his emigration year as 1862, the 1910 as "Unk," the 1920 as 1863, and the 1930 as 1867. It is believed to be the latter. John appeared in the census in 1870 in Baltimore (Independent City), MD. He appeared in the census in 1880 in Baltimore (Independent City), MD. He was living with his parents and his occupation was "Tailor." He appeared in the census in 1900 in Baltimore (Independent City), MD. He and his family were living at 2216 Jefferson Street in the household of Joseph Tesar, born May 1871 in Bohemia; his wife, Sophie, born August 1870 in Bohemia; and their son, Emil, born in October 1899 in Maryland. Their relationship to John Svec is not known. John appeared in the census in 1910 in Baltimore (Independent City), MD. His family lived at 908 North Bradford Street. His household at 908 North Bradford Street in Ward 7 consisted of John Svec, age 59, born in Bohemia, occupation "Laborer, Ship Yard," emigrated in 1863; his wife Mary, age 59, born in Bohemia, emigrated in 1873; a son Clement, age 30, Single, born in Maryland, occupation "Produce Dealer;" a daughter Catherine, age 19, Single, born in Maryland, occupation "Tailoring, Clothing Manufacturer;" and a son Anthony, age 16, born in Maryland, occupation "Laborer." He appeared in the census in 1930 in Baltimore (Independent City), MD. His household consisted of John; his wife, Mary; their children, Joseph, Anthony and Helen; and their daughter Catherine and her husband, Alexander. His household was at 908 North Bradford Street and his occupation was "Laborer, Railroad." John appeared in the census in 1940 in Baltimore (Independent City), MD. His household was at 908 North Bradford Street in Ward 7 and his "Highest grade completed" was 6. He died on 4 March 1945 at the age of 84 in Baltimore (Independent City), MD. He was buried in 1945 in Baltimore (Independent City), MD. in the Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery (Alphonsus Section, Lot 324, Space 1). John has Ancestral File Number K2F1-XPR.

John Vaclav Joseph SVEC (^) and Marie K. "Mary" KLIMA (^) were married on 29 October 1882 in Baltimore (Independent City), MD. at Saint Wenceslaus Roman Catholic Church.

According to the 1900 Census, they had 9 children, of whom 7 were living at the time; two more (Katie and Anton) were born after that. According to the 1910, they had 9, of whom 9 were reported as living at the time. It is believed that they had a total of 11 children. Marie K. "Mary" KLIMA (^), daughter of Josef Frantisek KLIMA and Ruzena Barbora STOLKA, was born on 3 December 1860 in Branice, Milevsko, Pisek District, South Bohemian Region, Bohemia (Czech Republic). (The FamilySearch Person website lists her parents as Josef Frantisek and Ruzena Barbora (Stolka Beckova) Klima as her parents. Josef was born in Branice and Ruzena in Velka, both of which are in the Pisek District, South Bohemian Region of Bohemia. The identity of her parents must be confirmed.)

A John "Klima" was listed in the 1880 Census at 263 West Side Ann Street, Baltimore, age 24, born in Austria, occupation "Shoemaker;" his wife, Mary, 18, born in Austria; and their daughter, Annie, 1, born in Maryland. John may have been a relative of hers.

The Holy Cross Cemetery in the Brooklyn section of Baltimore contains the gravestone of John "Klema," 1858-1933, who may have been her brother. It is also possible that the "John Klima" in the 1880 Census is the same as the "John Klema" buried in the Holy Cross cemetery.

The 1910 Census lists a Frank J. Klima family at 816 Madeira Street, 49 years old and born in "Aust. Bohemia." It also lists the Andrew Klima family at 929 Bradford Street, 32 years old and born in "Germany;" and the family of Anton Klima at 924 Bradford Street, 27 years old, and born in "Aust. Bohemia;" the latter household included Anton's brother, Adolph, 18. They may also have been her relatives. She was baptized on 4 December 1860 in Veselicko, Pisek District, South Bohemian Region, Bohemia (Czech Republic). She emigrated in 1874 from Bohemia (Czech Republic). According to the 1900 Census, she emigrated in 1875; according to the 1910, it was 1874; and, according to the 1930, it was 1873. It is not known why she would have emigrated nearly 10 years after her two older brothers. Mary appeared in the census in 1880 in Baltimore (Independent City), MD. She was living with her brother Frank and his family. (Her surname was listed as "Klemer.") She appeared in the census in 1900 in Baltimore (Independent City), MD. She appeared in the census in 1910 in Baltimore (Independent City), MD. Mary appeared in the census in 1920 in Baltimore (Independent City), MD. She appeared in the census in June 1930 in Baltimore (Independent City), MD. She appeared in the census in 1940 in Baltimore (Independent City), MD. According to the census, her "Highest grade completed" was the 2nd grade. Mary died on 11 January 1943 at the age of 82 in Baltimore (Independent City), MD. She was buried in Baltimore (Independent City), MD. in the Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery (Alphonsus Section, Lot 324, Space 2). She has Ancestral File Number K2J5-SVG.

He appeared in the census in 1900 in Baltimore (Independent City), MD. Clement appeared in the census in 1910 in Baltimore (Independent City), MD. He was living with his parents and his occupation was "Salesman, Fish." He appeared in the census in 1920 in Baltimore (Independent City), MD. He was living with his parents and his occupation was "Produce Dealer." (He cannot be located in the 1930 Census.) He appeared in the census in April 1940 in Baltimore (Independent City), MD. He was living with his parents, his "Highest grade completed" was 6, and he was listed as "Unable to Work." Clement died on 10 May 1940 at the age of 50 in Baltimore (Independent City), MD.
