Leon Woodard VANDERVORT was born on 19 January 1893 in La Grange Township, Monroe County, WI.33,36,88,152 He appeared in the census in 1900 in La Grange Township, Monroe County, WI.39 He appeared in the census in 1910 in La Grange Township, Monroe County, WI.56 86 "Leon Vandervort and Sid Densmore were among the lucky deer hunters this year, they having got a nice deer." In 1918/9 Leon was a Clerk of the LaGrange Township School Board in La Grange Township, Monroe County, WI.153 He appeared in the census in 1920 in La Grange Township, Monroe County, WI.57 He was living with his wife, Adele. He appeared in the census in April 1930 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.87 His household at 1009 Hollister Avenue consisted of Leon, his wife Adele, and his sons DeVere and Glenn. His occupation was listed as "machinist, steam railroad." Leon lived at their home in Taylor, Jackson County, WI in 1938.154 Before 1979 he was a farmer and saw mill operator in Monroe County, WI. He died on 7 June 1979 at the age of 86 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.33,152

Obituary Notes: "Leon W. Vandervort, 86, Tomah, died Thurs., June 7, 1979 in the Tomah Care Center, where he had lived since suffering a stroke in 1975.

He was born Jan. 19, 1893 in Monroe County to Mr. and Mrs. Frank Vandervort. He married Adele Ryckman and they were later divorced. His second wife, Myrtle Erickson, died in 1977. Vandervort farmed and operated a sawmill in Monroe County. After his retirement, he was well known in the area for the model steam engines and farm equipment he built.

Survivors are two sons, DeVere of Penfield, New York, and Dr. Glenn of Kenosha; a daughter, Mrs. Laura Lee Wahl of Webster, New York; five grandchildren; and a brother, Frank, of Tomah. A sister also preceded him in death.

Services were Saturday at 1:30 P.M. in the White Funeral Home, Tomah, with the Rev. David Hoyme officiating. Burial was in LaGrange Cemetery." Leon was buried on 9 June 1979 in La Grange Township, Monroe County, WI.89,155 in the LaGrange Township Cemetery.

She was listed as a "Widow" and her occupation was "Proprietor, Boarding House." Adele died on 14 January 1988 at the age of 89 in La Grange Township, Monroe County, WI.51,88,89,158,159 She was buried after 14 January 1988 in La Grange Township, Monroe County, WI.51,89 in the LaGrange Township Cemetery.
