Alexander Hannibal LAMB was born on 10 August 1806 in Columbus, Chenango County, NY.5,7,17,18,19 (He is listed as "Hannibal A." on his gravestone marker.) When Hannibal was young he lived with Capt. David Smith. Later he learned the shoemaker's trade from Joseph Greenleaf at Truxton, NY. He then went to Columbus PA, and bought land with another man, but ultimately lost it and all he had. He and his father-in-law Israel Greenleaf went to Ohio but soon returned and went to Columbus Co., Wisconsin. He worked land upon shares; later he purchased a "Soldier's Right" which was 160 acres. He settled on this land, owned it, and by 1861 was in a comfortable position. ENCHES were married on 3 July 1831.7 Malinda E. ENCHES, daughter of Ishmael ENCHES and Sally HENDERSON, was born on 9 September 1815 in New York.5,18 (Some sources list her birth place as Pennsylvania, but it is listed as New York in the 1860 Census and in the 1920 Census for her son Daniel.) She appeared in the census in 1860 in Greenfield Township, Monroe County, WI.18 She died on 10 December 1862 at the age of 47 in Monroe County, WI.7 Malinda was buried in Lincoln Township, Monroe County, WI.23,24 in the Lincoln Township Cemetery.
