Nora Robertson's notes, February 2000: "I was raised on a ranch in Montana at the foot of the Beartooth Mountains. Much of my schooling was in a one-room, one-teacher school. I graduated from high school in Red Lodge, MT in 1942.

I had gone to business college in Great Falls and met Buck (Robertson) in May 1943 while I worked for the Quartermaster Corps, which supplied the military troops. We were married in September and had the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity of honeymooning in Cooke City, MT--an entrance to Yellowstone National Park, which was closed at the time.

The park ranger--who knew my family--agreed to let us into the park daily as long as we were out by sunset. We had the entire park to explore with no one but us and the wildlife. After a 10-day honeymoon, Buck was off to Alaska again and I was back to work. He would be home for a few days, and then off again.

While Buck was in the Far East, I spent the year in Florida, Virginia and California with different families. I worked some and helped out when the babies were born. After World War II ended, we had a reunion in Baltimore and then lived in Virginia for over a year. Then, in 1947, we went to Charleston, SC to work.

We lived there until he was called back into the Service at the start of the Korean Conflict in 1950. When he was stationed in Florida, I joined him in September 1950. I was seven months pregnant and we had to start life all over again." . Nora Belle O'SHEA (!)(+) and Walter Crawford "Buck" ROBERTSON Jr. (^)(#) were married on 10 September 1943 in Great Falls, Cascade County, MT.^270,273,636 When Buck saw Nora for the first time, he said to his friends, "That's the girl I'm going to marry."

According to their marriage license, his residence at the time was Charleston, SC, and hers was Red Lodge, MT. He was a Sgt. in the U.S. Army. Their witnesses were Howard Connell and Josephine Kutros, and Sherman L. Divine performed the marriage ceremony.

Wedding Announcement: "Mrs. Mary A. O'Shea of Red Lodge, announces the marriage of her daughter, Nora B. O'Shea of Great Falls, to Staff Sergeant Walter C. Robertosn, Jr. of Charleston, S.C.

The couple was united in marriage with the double ring ceremony performed by the Rev. Sherman Divine of the First Presbyterian Church, Great Falls, in the presence of a few close friends and relatives. Miss Josephine Kutros of Great Falls was the maid of honor and Technical Sergeant Howard Connell of Alabama was best man.

For her wedding, the bride chose a brown dressmaker suit trimmed with velvet, and carried brown accessories. Her corsage was of gardenias and pink rose buds. Miss Kutros wore a brown two-piece dress with blue and brown accessories and a corsage of gardenias and roses. Mrs. O'Shea, mother of the bride, wore a military blue dress with brown accessories and a corsage of gardenias.

Mrs. Robertson is a graduate of Carbon County High School, class of '42, and is now employed in the Quartermaster's office of the Seventh Ferrying Group in Great Falls. Sgt. Robertson is stationed in Great Falls with the Air Corps.

After a bried wedding trip, the couple will be at home at 822 6th Avenue North in Great Falls." Walter Crawford "Buck" ROBERTSON Jr. (^)(#), son of Walter Crawford ROBERTSON and Lillian Alice EARNEY, was born on 27 September 1912 in Fort Meade, Polk County, FL.²⁷⁰ Notes from his wife, Nora, in February 2000: "Buck was born in Ft. Meade, FL and was raised in the Bartow area. His parents divorced and at a very early age he was shipped off to the Tennessee Military Institute. He later lived in North and South Carolina.

He was working in Charleston, SC when World War II started and he enlisted at once. He was too old to become a pilot, so he became a Flight Engineer. He was sent to the 7th Ferry Command in late-1942 or early-1943 in Great Falls, MT. Buck flew mostly B-17's and some other bombers, but the B-17's were his pride and joy. He delivered planes all over the U.S., but one of the main jobs was delivering planes to the Russians. His crews flew them to Fairbanks, AK, where the Russian crews took over.

In January 1944, he got orders to go to the China-Burma-India Theater to ferry supplies to troops in China--the planes flew "The Hump" across the Himalayas. The war ended in August of 1945, and Buck finally arrived in Baltimore in November via a very slow boat.

In June of 1950, when the Korean Conflict began, he was one of the first to be called back to active duty. He reported to Biloxi, MS and was then sent to Tindall AFB in FL. We came to the conclusion that, if Uncle Sam continued to disrupt our lives, we would make the Air Force a permanent way of life--which turned out to be a very wise decision. We were stationed in Japan and Germany, along with Georgia and other locations in the US.

In 1964, Buck developed Multiple Sclerosis and he was discharged medically in November of that year. We settled in Scottsdale, AZ where he lived in retirement.". Buck had Social Security Number 242-09-9837. His SSN was issued in North Carolina. Also living in his household was Claire Lassiter, age 21, born in North Carolina, occupation "Operator, Beauty Parlor." He served in the military in the U.S. Army between 8 January 1942 and 27 November 1945.⁶⁴⁰ Buck appeared in the census in 1945 in Bartow, Polk County, FL.⁶³⁴ His occupation was "Army." He served in the military in the U.S. Air Force between 16 August 1950 and 6 November 1964.⁶⁴⁰ He died on 6 July 1993 at the age of 80 in Scottsdale, Maricopa County, AZ.²⁷⁰ He died of bone cancer. Buck was buried on 9 July 1993 in Scottsdale, Maricopa County, AZ.²⁷⁰
